OFCOM TO ISSUE AERONAUTICAL RADIO LICENCES

Ofcom to issue aeronautical radio licences

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is currently contracted to administer radio licences for UK aircraft and ground stations on behalf of Ofcom. Ofcom has decided that in future it will issue aeronautical radio licences itself. The new arrangements are expected to be in place from November 2018. Over the next five months the CAA and Ofcom will be working together to achieve a smooth transition.

The responsibility for assigning radio frequencies to the aviation industry rests with the CAA and this will not change.

More detailed information and guidance will be published soon.
