Flexwing (Weightshift)
Flexwing (Weightshift)
Normally consists of a wing and trike unit, usually always tandem (one behind the other) seating, but a few side-by-side designs do exist. Wings are always tube and fabric, trikes/pods are normally the same although some modern designs use carbon fibre to achieve monocoque structures.
Control is achieved directly due to the pilot ‘shifting’ the trike position relative to the wing via the wing ‘A’ frame. Subtle features in the ‘flexible’ wing design, also assist with manoeuvrability of the aircraft.
