It is with great sadness that we learned that Geoff Weighell, long-serving Chairman and CEO of the BMAA, passed away this morning, 27th July 2026.
Geoff dedicated so much of his adult life to the sport he loved, touching every corner of its ecosystem, from running his own school to chairing the Microlight Panel of Examiners. Many of the freedoms and privileges we enjoy today can be attributed to the work and dedication he gave on our behalf.
Geoff was a teacher, inspector, leader and ambassador for British Microlighting.
Every person who takes to the skies in a Microlight has benefited from his extensive knowledge, passion and sheer determination to expand our horizons.
Our thoughts are with Geoff’s family at this difficult time.
