ATC New Horizons progress
One of the BMAA New Horizons build-a-plane projects is being built by 29F Rugby Squadron Air Cadets. The aircraft, a SkyRanger Swift, is the third microlight aircraft build sponsored by the BMAA. Building the aircraft gives hands-on experience of practical engineering; teaches the basics of tool use and project planning; develops team building and is great fun. When complete this aircraft will fly and then be sold to fund other aircraft.
The first image shows the rolling chassis ready for the fuselage covering. The engine is mounted and the wing structure ready for covering. The second shows the aircraft inspector, Gary Masters of Airmasters, showing cadets how to inspect details of the build.
You can follow the build on the 29F Rugby Squadron Air Cadets Facebook page following this link.
