March 2025

IN Belfast, we’re going through such a cold snap that I’ve had to sit in front of the fridge with the door open for an hour to get warm enough to type this, and I’m now sitting at my desk with the cat on my head to keep some heat in, although he did struggle a bit when I gaffer-taped him in place.

So I’m not even a little bit jealous of Amanda and Chris Williams flying south to Portugal. No, not even a bit.

Still, it could be worse: I could be Daniel Langton or Frank Smith, up in their flexwings over the snowy wastes.

At least Daniel’s fellow Hawksview pilot Darren Elliston was in a nice warm Eurostar.

Still, Spring is on the way: as I write this, our snowdrops have been out for a fortnight, and the daffodils have just joined them. I salute their sunny optimism. They were obviously flexwing pilots in a former life.
