WITH wall-to-wall blue skies and the temperature, particularly in southern Englandshire, hotter than the inside of an angry volcano, you folks have been leaping into your flugelling machines and soaring into the sky to fearlessly tackle thermals and heatstroke; if only for a good excuse to land afterwards and head to the nearest pub for a lovely cold pint, with those little beads of moisture on the outside of the glass winking seductively at you.

Resistance is futile, as those well-known Swedish tennis-playing aliens The Borg were always saying.

As a result, we’ve 17 fabulous entries this month, with the only bad news that the August issue of MF is so bunged with news, letters and features that I may only be able to devote two pages to the photo comp, so all the entries won’t get published in print.

Still, in the meantime, here they are for your delectation and delight.

Bembridge by Murray Luker. “Departing Bembridge en route to Lee-on-Solent in our syndicate <br>Skyranger Nynja, a recent purchase after the sale of our C42, based at Gloucester,” said Murray.

Blade by Justin Parsons. “Severn Valley Microlight Club member and Wizz Air <br>pilot Harry Davis in his trusty old Mainair Blade 912 at a recent club fly-in,” said Justin.

Blues and browns by Daniel Langton. Cheshire Flyer <br>Daniel over the loch-speckled hills en route to the Western Isles.

Coventry by Paul Bamford. “On final for Runway 23 at Coventry, where I gained my PPL in 2019,” said Paul. “It was <br>surreal to take my Quantum in for a catchup with the guys in the tower. This airport will always be my favourite.”

Departure from Glenforsa by Mike Calvert. “Leaving Glenforsa after an overnight stay of 10 planes <br>from East of Scotland Microlights. It was quite the sight to see 10 flexwings all lining up for takeoff,” said Mike.

Glenforsa by Gwyn Carwardine. Gwyn’s Eurostar at Glenforsa for Fly-UK. “It was my first Fly-UK, and it’s a bloody good laugh,” <br>said Gwyn. “We flew from St Michael’s to Strathaven, Bute, Glenforsa, the Great Glen, Glendoe and Balado.�

Gozo by Mark Said. “Not a cloud in the sky, and a bottle of cold Cisk beer awaiting my landing,” <br>said Mark. This was him over the west coast of Gozo, Malta’s smaller sister island.

Hayle Estuary by Scott Pendry. “The Hayle Estuary at 2,500ft on the way into Land’s End. At the control is fellow <br>Flylight syndicate member Adam Bedborough. For both of us, our longest flights to date. A top day out,” said Scott.

Last leg by Martin Sandwith. “On the last leg home to Kirkbride with the Flying Cowboys from a recent trip to Netherlands, <br>Germany, Luxembourg and France, unfortunately missing out on Belgium because of permit delays,” said Martin.

Solstice sunrise by Andy Eagle. “My EuroFox at sunrise on the longest day, <br>just before departure,” said Andy, who’s based at a private strip in Gloucestershire.

St Ives by Adam Bedborough. “A flying trip from Sywell to Land’s End with fellow syndicate member Scott Pendry in <br>Flylight’s Skyranger Swift 3. I flew there, he flew back,” said Adam. “Eight hours of flying, 500nm.”

Stonehenge by Peter Masters. Peter leaped out of bed at dawn on midsummer’s day, took off from Popham and was <br>over Stonehenge in his Skyranger when most of us were turning over for another snooze.

Sunset by Andrey Nikulin. Andrey on a sunset flight in his QuikR ahead of dawn patrol on midsummer’s day. After rising <br>at 3.30am, he flew around Kent, buzzed early worshippers at Reculver Abbey, and returned for an early breakfast.

The balloon’s gone up by Dave Webb. “The stillest of still summer evenings; so hands off it was like having autopilot,” <br>said Dave, the winner of last year’s annual photo comp, who flies his Eurostar out of Heathfield in Sussex.
