Quality Manager - Dave Simpson

Quality Manager (QM).  The QM is responsible for ensuring the BMAA is in compliance with and adhering to its technical procedures. This is in accordance with the airworthiness requirements of the Sporting Approval A8-26 as published by the Civil Aviation Authority.  


Dave worked for BAE Systems, then Cobham, for over 40 years, first as a design engineer, then engineering manager.  He started hang gliding in 1975 and flew his first microlight in 1979.  

In his spare time he has run hang gliding and microlight schools and carried out the certification work on several microlight and light aircraft designs, including the Ikarus C42, EV-97 Eurostar, AX3, Balerit, and Alpi Aviation’s Pioneer range.  

He is also currently a BMAA Senior Inspector and has served on BMAA Council as Vice Chairman
