Mike Morris

In January magazine, council member Richard Bisiker suggested “young blood” and “reverse mentoring” for new Council Members.  He’s right, however, experience, a depth of knowledge and an understanding of our association, along with its vision and some ideas to help it further develop and grow is also important.

I have a diverse background with a wide range of experience and skills, plus a “can do” attitude that will deliver positive input to council activities, some of which are below.

·       Working on behalf of BMAA, I manage the advertising activity within this magazine. Early 2020 I refreshed the whole BMAA advertising offer. Designed and delivered a new media pack, restructured financial and oversight arrangements, re-established relationships with BMAA partners and advertisers, (see page 49) Increased creative services quality and revenue opportunities.

·       A well-known active microlight pilot and BMAA Member since 1983. I’ve been an Airfield owner, School owner, Instructor, Check Pilot. I’m a current examiner, BMAA Senior Inspector, LAA Inspector and to some business Members, the MF advertising salesman!

·       Professional experience:  Capital equipment and services technical sales. Business development for both private and not for profit businesses and organisations.

·       Senior manager for Cumbria Chamber of Commerce delivering ERDF business support and growth projects. Also organising and hosting key business events, working with Gov’t, local authorities and MPs.

·       Business Development Manager for Newsquest Cumbria, delivering ROI strategies for business clients’ profiling within a range of high quality print publications.

·       Currently MD of Cumbria Aviation Ltd.  We focus on aircraft sales and other services for microlights / LSA, plus aviation focused print and digital media services.

Summary:  Exciting times ahead at the BMAA.  Our new CEO will expect quality support from a strong and dynamic Council.  I believe I can deliver on your behalf so please vote for me. Thank you.
