Rosie Simpson

Rosie Simpson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosie Simpson, former CFI of Kent Microlight Aircraft Club.

Rosie loved a lifetime of flying, devoted to introducing others to the joys of aviation. Gaining her PPL in Nigeria while working for VSO, Rosie's first microlight flight was organised by the BWPA and this led to a career in microlight instruction, introducing so very many others to flying.

Rosie's first flying was in an early weightshift microlight, once nearly succumbing to hypothermia as she refused to land, such was her enjoyment.

She joined the BMAA in 1984 and was the longest current member of Kent Microlight Aircraft Club, where until recently she was the club flying instructor, CFI and also a valued member of the club committee. Rosie's passion for aviation and infectious sense of humour combined to attract hundreds of would-be pilots to microlighting and to the Kent Microlight Aircraft Club.

Rosie's long career spanned nearly 40 years as an instructor. We send our thoughts and very best wishes to her family.
