CAA 600 Kg statement

Following a meeting between the BMAA and CAA on 20 September, Mark Shortman of the GA unit clarified the current position with regard to changes that could lead to consideration of an increase in the MTOM definition of a UK microlight in this statement released today (28/09/18).
"At this time, CAA has the intention to exercise the opt-out provisions for aircraft up to 600 kg as detailed in Article 2(8) of the new Basic Regulation 2018/1139. The precise details have yet to be determined but a collaborative CAA/Stakeholder working group will be formed to investigate all possible options and this will then be supported by a consultation."
