Heavens, what a poetic lot you are: three of the 15 fabulous images this month are glorious sunset shots, including a lovely image by Scott Jarvis of, as he so eloquently put it: “When all the flying has been done at the end of an idyllic summer day, watching the pilots coming back in to Sandy airfield and diligently putting their planes away, accompanied by a setting sun and that otherworldly smile they sometimes have, is one of the many gratifying elements of running an airfield.”

Lovely. We’ve always known that most of us are from another world, although some more than others.

At the other end of the day, Tim Jerry was up at sparrowfart for a shot of sunrise at Darley Moor during the great flex fly-in. Either way, wonderful images, and keep them coming.

Arthur’s Seat, by Peter Griffiths. “Central Scotland is peppered with extinct volcanoes, and here’s the most famous: 822ft high Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh, <br>seen beyond the dappled fields of Midlothian and silhouetted against the Forth.”

Darley Moor, by Tim Jerry. “Sunrise at the Darley Moor flexwing fly-in, a memorable event enjoyed by many, although I did recall Brody’s line in Jaws: <br>‘You’re going to need a bigger boat’. I need a bigger tent,” said Tim.

DeltaJet, by Mike Morris. With Mike Morris leaving us as MF Advertising Manager, he’s now focusing on his Cumbria Aviation business, including selling the new DeltaJet 500. <br>This is him enjoying it with his son Ben.

Glendoe, by Dave Buggins. “I thought this summed up the tranquility of the Glendoe strip and Loch Ness in the distance, during a six-day trip to Scotland, <br>based at Oban and Glenforsa,” said Dave, who flies from Hunsdon.

Grafham Water, by Fraser Simpson. “It was a big cloud day and wanting to show my passenger Grafham Water I had<br> to circumnavigate the clouds forming over the reservoir,” said Fraser.

Lough Derg, by Fred MacDonald. Saint Patrick’s sanctuary on Lough Derg in Co Donegal, taken by Fred in a C42 from Kernan Valley Flying Club. <br>“I was on one of the Bronze Wings challenge flights. It was my fourth flight as a new pilot.”

Needles ahoy, by Simon Gregory. “In a C42 heading for The Needles on a stunning but thermic day, hence not being in balance!” said Simon.

On the beach, by Phil Evans. “My GT450 on the beach after Peter Lomax and I flew from St Michael’s to the Lancashire Landings at Knott End,” said Phil, <br>making his first appearance in the photo comp.

Rainbow, by Steve Maginnis. “I took this shortly after takeoff in the C42 from Kernan Aviation, Tandragee, Northern Ireland,” said Steve. <br>“I’d been waiting for the rain to clear, and was treated to this spectacular rainbow circle.”

Scot free, by Richard Hine. “Richard Boardman and I made a three-day trip in a Skyranger and Savannah from Moss Edge to Strathaven to <br>Bute to Glenforsa, including a lazy tour of Mull and Iona,” said Richard.

Skyranger storm, by Tom Dewhurst. A Skyranger wisely staying on the ground, by the look of that sky, taken by Tom, son of Flylight’s Paul Dewhurst, who knows a thing or three about Skyrangers.

Sundowner, by Geoff Hall. “The QuikR takes a well-deserved rest at Perranporth airfield, Paul Brooker and I having taken a well-deserved pint or three on the beach. <br>Not a bad sunset, either,” said seasoned MF contributor Geoff.
