TEN of the best this month, which means we’re a bit down in quantity from the summer months, when we’ve seen up to 28 fabulous pics for the photo comp, but what this month lacks in quantity, it doesn’t lack in quality!

Evening bimble. by Richard Stewart-Jones. ‘An evening bimble from Fisherwick airfield in Staffordshire,’ said Richard. <br>‘The sun is reflected in the waters of Blithfield Reservoir, and away in the distance is a hot air balloon.’

Low and slow, by Kev Creed. John Longmore’s 503-powered Minimax, the first of two he’s built over a 30-year flying life, doing a low pass at Hough airfield, Lincs, by Kev, who flies a Shadow.

Never too old, by Clive Mason. ‘Jim Hare is 70, and has been training for a few months. He’s really getting to <br>grips with the challenges, and I think the photo sums up aviation. The joy it brings is priceless,’ said Clive.

Snakes alive, by Tim Squires. ‘It doesn’t go fast, it doesn’t go far but it’s still fun flying this little one around the Yorkshire Dales,’ said Tim, having fun in his Airplay Snake.

Spying on a spy plane, by Richard Sigley. ‘Overhead RAF Fairford at 3000ft in our group C42 from Sandown <br>on the Isle of Wight,’ said Richard. ‘Outside the large hangar in the photo is a USAF U2 Dragon Lady.’

Tinto Hill, by Brian Watson. ‘Tinto Hill near our home airfield of Strathaven on an evening flight in our syndicate C42,’ said Mike McSorley. <br>‘Brian was on his first ever microlight flight, and took it with a ‘real’ camera, a Canon 5D.�

Typhoon, by Al O’Connor. ‘My flying buddy Dave Evans and I were 1300ft on a bimble from Rossall airfield when a Typhoon pilot, <br>obviously envious of our height advantage, tried to pass below undetected as quickly as possible,’ said Al.
