Coronavirus information 13/03/2020

Due to the potential risk to health and concerns expressed by many delegates we have taken the decision to cancel the BMAA Instructor Seminar due to take place on March 17. The planned event will not take place.

We will be contacting everyone who has made a booking with a refund of costs over the next few days.

Coronavirus information 10/03/2020

In response to the concerns about the chances of infection with Coronavirus during the Instructor Seminar I have considered the options. Obviously things can change but at the moment there is no reason not to hold a gathering of people and in fact they are being held all over the country even today. The Government has considered the risks and as yet has not given any guidance to suggest that the planned seminar should not go ahead. Therefore the current position, on Tuesday 10 March, is that the seminar will go ahead as planned.

Obviously anyone who considers themselves a risk to others should already be in self-isolation. A Government statement says “People who show "even minor" signs of respiratory tract infections or a fever will soon be told to self-isolate in an effort to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.”

If you are worried about attending the seminar and decide not to please let us know as soon as you make the decision to assist us with planning.

As a bit of general advice you should try to minimise any risk to yourself anyway wherever you are. Avoid tightly crowded places such as underground trains where you cannot be at least a metre away from others as the Government guidelines; avoid being in close contact with other people [such as within an enclosed cockpit of an aircraft]; not sharing headsets when teaching etc.; clean controls after each different pilot has used them and of course wash your hands as suggested.   Just common sense actions that you would take every year to avoid flu.

We will continue to monitor the situation and if any changes happen we will advise you through email and this BMAA website page.
