The Flying Show, 28/29 November 2009

For more than 20 years the Flying show has brought together the cream of the lightweight flying industry under one roof for a spectacular weekend of trade exhibitions, demonstrations, seminars and entertainment.

2009 is no different, with many new features added. For the first time, the BMFA (British Model Flying Association) take control of a dedicated flying display area, providing visitors with an amazing display of world class indoor model flying. You can also test your model flying skills using their flight simulator, located on stand 49.

BMAA Technical Office staff member Rob Mott will continue the build of his Skyranger kit live at the show, complete with stage inspections and commentary as he works his way through the comprehensive build manual.

BMAA veteran Mick Broom brings his display of classic and vintage microlights - portraying the development of microlight aircraft from the beginning.

The seminar programme for 2009 is destined to be as popular as previous years. Wing Cmdr Ken Wallis MBE has agreed to talk about his RAF Fighter Bomber career, his world record flights - including being the oldest person (aged 89) to set an aviation record and his involvement in the development of the rotorcraft, including supplying James Bond with 'Little Nellie' for the film 'You Only Live Twice'. There are several talks to help you improve your flying - including safety and avoiding airspace infringements, practical advice on how to plan for ditching, and a masterclass on RT communication - brush off the cobwebs and become a radio pro!

Of course, the main part of the show is the exhibitors and traders who attend; catch up with the latest developments, search out those show bargains and keep up to date with the world of lightweight flying.

The show is in Hall 12 of the NEC, Birmingham over the weekend of 28 and 29 November 2009. BMAA members enjoy discounted entry to the show. Don't keep it a secret - download a poster from the website, tell your friends and bring them along!
